Turtle on arrival with left front flipper severed.
1/5 Turtle was found today with the left front flipper severed, possibly by a boat. Turtle is anemic from blood loss, but otherwise is strong and swimming. Have begun treatment.
1/7 Turtle is doing well but has not started to eat.
1/8 Turtle began eating this morning and is being placed in slightly deeper water.
1/12 Turtle is now eating well and gaining weight.
1/15 Appetite has been variable the last few days. Doing well otherwise.
1/23 Appetite continues to be variable but doing well otherwise.
1/30 Series of radiographs revealed a blockage in the lower intestine. Have started tubing the turtle and it is being given mineral oil to dislodge the blockage.
2/4 Turtle has passed a small amount of feces, and has started eating a little more.
2/7 Turtle’s appetite continues to improve and turtle is more active.
2/13 Turtle is finally passing mineral oil and blockage seems to have been dislodged. Turtle finally has a good appetite.
2/18 Radiographs this morning revealed that the blockage is completely gone. Turtle is gaining weight and looking much better.
2/25 Turtle continues to do very well.
2/28 Appetite is now excellent.
3/4 Continuing to do very well.
3/13 Turtle continues to improve and flipper wound is healing well.
3/24 Wound is almost healed and turtle is doing well.
4/8 Continuing to heal and improve. May be ready for release in another month or so.
4/30 Continuing to do well. Wound is not quite healed, but is getting very close.
5/17 Doing very well and should be ready for release soon.
5/30 Almost completely healed and doing very well.
6/20 Turtle has been tagged and is ready for release. Waiting on permission from the State of Florida.
6/26 Turtle was released this morning from the Public Beach at Stuart, Florida. Release went very well.
