1/18 Koopa was brought to Mote from C.R.O.W. (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) on Sanibel Island after being cold stunned. Turtle is currently rooming with Flip, Chill and Woodstock.
1/20 Turtle was one of 10 cold-stunned turtles released from Vanderbilt Beach in Collier County. (Thanks to Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch for the transport!)
Note: More than 3,000 sea turtles statewide have been affected by record-low January water temperatures. State and federal agencies, along with nonprofit organizations like Mote are responding to this mass stranding by taking in sick sea turtles.
