Released
03/09/2019 Phoenix was found near the Trident Basin at Cape Canaveral’s Air Force Station covered in algae. Had many skin abrasions, including an area on the neck where the skull is showing. Taken to Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center.
04/02/2019 Transferred to Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s sea turtle hospital. Put on a round of injectable antibiotics and ate well.
04/12/2019 Phoenix was taken off injectable antibiotics and put on an oral antibiotic instead. Started on injectable iron supplement every Friday.
5/10/2019 Phoenix was taken off injectable iron and put on an oral iron supplement 3 times a week.
05/26/2019 Phoenix’s oral antibiotic and iron supplement were discontinued! Continues to improve and is gaining weight.
06/19/2019 Phoenix was medically cleared and released by Mote staff and interns off of the east coast
