08/26/2025 This sea turtle patient was found with Derelict crab pot line wrapped around her left front flipper. There was also a ligature wound around her left rear flipper but no line attached. Her left front flipper is missing and humerus exposed to bone.
09/18/2025 “Uma” is eating well. She is currently receiving iron and antibiotic injections to improve her bloodwork.
10/21/2025 “Uma” is at full water and salinity. She continues to eat well on her own and is off antibiotics. She is currently receiving iron supplements.
11/07/2025 On October 22 Uma had surgery to remove the exposed bone remaining from her entanglement. We are happy to report the surgery was successful and she is recovering well. The patient is currently receiving antibiotics as well as iron and vitamins to supplement her diet.
