11/30/2021  Turtle cold-stunned and stranded in Barnstable County, Cape Cod, MA.  Animals were rescued and transported to New England Aquarium for triage.  All cold-stunned turtles were slowly warmed over a few days and were given subcutaneous fluids, vitamin B and E injections, and started on injectable antibiotics.  Due to large number of stranded cold-stunned turtles, many will be transferred to other sea turtle rehab. facilities around the country for continued care.

12/10/2021  16 juvenile Kemp's ridley turtles were transferred to Mote for continued care and rehabilitation.  They were flown down to Florida by a volunteer pilot working with the non-profit organization Turtles Fly Too.  Mote staff picked up the turtles at Dolphin Aviation at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and transported them back to our sea turtle rehabilitation hospital.  All animals were weighed, measured, and put in rehab. pools in very shallow water.  They will be given antibiotic injections every 6 days and will be given subcutaneous fluids if not eating well.

12/15/2021 Pa Bailey ate his full diet offered.

12/24/2021 He is continuing to eat well.

01/06/2022 Pa's bloodwork is improving, so he has been taken off of antibiotics. He eats the majority of his diet offered, if not all of it.

01/15/2022 His tank temperature is slowly being dropped to acclimate him to the colder Atlantic ocean temperatures.

02/04/2022  Pa Bailey continues to eat well and gain weight.  His blood values are normalizing.

02/10/2022  Pa Bailey was released at New Smyrna Beach on the east coast of Florida by Mote staff!
