Mote Marine Laboratory high school interns invite fellow students ages 14-18 for an island clean up 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15.
Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. by the whale statue near the entrance to Mote Aquarium (Mote Marine Laboratory, 1600 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34236).
Participants will be working in small groups with Mote’s high school interns to rid City Island of marine debris.
Participants are asked to bring water, a fun attitude, and a willingness to meet new friends. Students will be able to earn community service hours from this clean-up.
“This City Island clean-up is led by Mote’s Education high school interns,” said Kasey Gaylord-Opalewski, Mote’s Senior Coordinator of Digital Programs. “It’s a way for them to give back to the community and it’s wonderful to see youth inspire youth and take it upon themselves to get involved.”
