Biography:

Chanel is a Sarasota native and a Mote supporter since childhood. After a college internship in Mote’s education department, she did an internship in Volcano, Hawaii through the San Diego Zoo working with and breeding critically endangered endemic birds. She has 10 years of experience caring for and training over 40 different species including flamingos, sloths, pelicans, alligators, lemurs, macaws, and many others. She is professionally recognized for her successful breeding efforts of her favorite egg-laying mammal: the short-beaked echidna.
