Meet the Team

Laura Biersmith is a development professional with nearly 40 years of fundraising experience. She has worked with national and community-based organizations in a variety of charitable sectors, and has raised millions of dollars to support their missions.

A move to Sarasota in August 2021 introduced her to Mote and its remarkable work, and she was honored to join the philanthropy team shortly thereafter. In her role as a philanthropy officer, Laura enjoys working with donors whose passion for our oceans – and the marine animals that depend on the sea – advances Mote’s marine science, conservation and public education priorities.
