Biography:
As a staff biologist with a focus on spatial analytics, Preston’s work at Mote sits at the intersection of data analysis and visual communication. By integrating 3D modeling and spatial analysis tools, he turns complex benthic data into actionable insights, emphasizing the importance of coral reef restoration monitoring at the ecosystem-scale. Growing up in a rural agricultural community, Preston developed an early appreciation for how human activity affects vulnerable ecosystems. With a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota, he brings a design-driven perspective to marine science, translating field data into visual narratives that enhance understanding of our fragile underwater environments.
