Biography:
Rachel Ploss is a dedicated development professional with a passion for transformational philanthropy and creating lasting, positive impact in her community. She holds both a B.A. and an M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, where she developed a strong foundation in nonprofit strategy and donor relations.
After relocating to Florida in 2022, Rachel completed a year-long fellowship focused on nonprofit work with people, organizations, and community, during which she gained valuable experience in community engagement and strategic development. She then led fundraising efforts at a small nonprofit before bringing her expertise to Mote.
Rachel joined the Mote team with a focus on nurturing lasting relationships with donors, ensuring continued support well beyond the scope of early-stage projects. She finds fulfillment in connecting with donors who share her enthusiasm for the ocean and its ecosystems. Rachel is dedicated to advancing Mote’s mission of marine science, conservation, and public education, ensuring impactful support for groundbreaking research and vital conservation.
