Seth Avant

Biography:

At Mote Marine Laboratory Seth conducts methods that research coastal and open ocean acidification processes. This includes, but is not limited to, measuring seawater samples for dissolved inorganic carbon, alkalinity, and total pH for calculating the entirety of the ocean carbonate system. In addition, he also performs experiments in the Ocean Acidification System (OASys) wet lab where chemical and biological responses of harmful algal blooms, corals, and more are evaluated under varying set environmental conditions.
