Biography:

Shelly graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2022 with a B.S. in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. She currently works as a Staff Biologist at the Florida Coral Restoration Crab Hatchery Research Center located at the Mote Aquaculture Research Park where she raises Caribbean king crabs to be outplanted on reefs along the Florida Keys. She has previously worked on research projects looking at how to sustainably remove sea lice from steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in New Hampshire using lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus), potential improvements of striped bass (Morone saxatilis) aquaculture, how ocean acidification alters the trace metal uptake of blue mussels (Mytilus edulis), as well as determining how temperature fluctuations impact the presence of Vibrio Parahaemolyticus in oysters along the Great Bay Estuary.
