Today's Research for Tomorrow's Oceans

Biography:

A native of Tampa, FL, Sunny brings a lifelong passion for the natural world and a talent for making science come alive for learners of all ages. Before joining Mote, she owned and operated the Traveling Nature Class in Los Angeles — a hands-on, curriculum-aligned life science program featuring live reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds, and invertebrates. For six years, she brought the wonders of the living world directly to thousands of students, sparking curiosity and deepening connections to nature in classrooms across Southern California.

Drawn deeper into conservation, Sunny and her family relocated to Bali, Indonesia, where she spent five years contributing to critical ocean protection efforts — coral restoration, invasive species removal, sea turtle research, cleanup dives and dolphin rehab efforts.

A certified scientific and rescue diver, Sunny has spent her life both in and out of the water advocating for the ecosystems that sustain us. She now brings her hands-on field experience and educational expertise to Mote’s mission of advancing marine science and inspiring the next generation of ocean stewards.
