Is your birthday or another special occasion coming up? Celebrate your next milestone, or honor a loved one with a personal Facebook fundraiser.

A Facebook fundraiser is a simple and effective way to rally your friends, family, and community to support a cause you care about. By creating a fundraiser on Facebook, you can easily raise funds for nonprofit organizations like Mote Marine Laboratory and make a real difference in the world.

Making a difference is easy; set up your fundraiser and invite your Facebook friends to donate and share your fundraiser with their networks. Your generosity will help fund critical research, conservation efforts, and educational programs at Mote Marine Laboratory, ensuring a brighter and healthier future for our oceans. Fundraiser creators can set donation goals and track their progress toward those goals, and donors can enter their payment information securely and easily through Facebook.

Let’s dive in and make a difference together!

Get started now

1. Create your Fundraiser

Log in to your Facebook account and select “Fundraisers” from the main menu.

Or simply visit facebook.com/fundraisers

2. Click “Raise Money”

3. Choose who to support and set your fundraising goal

Select “Nonprofit” and search or select Mote Marine Laboratory. Enter your fundraising goal.

4. Set up your Fundraiser

Determine your personal fundraising goal and an end date for your fundraiser. For example, you could create a fundraiser that runs through your entire birthday month or through the week of your birthday.

Click the “Create” button.

5. Share your Fundraiser

Use the search tool to search for the names of friends you think will support your cause. Inviting all of your friends to participate will maximize your outreach — and so will talking about your fundraiser! Post about your fundraiser on your Facebook and add a personalized note about why Mote is important to you. Increase visibility by emailing your contacts to notify them about your Facebook fundraiser, sharing the link to your fundraiser’s page, and asking them to contribute in your honor. You can also reach out to friends over Facebook messenger.

6. Keep the momentum going

Sharing your fundraiser will encourage people to join your cause. Tell your friends how your fundraiser is going by posting about milestones along the way (Thank you! We have met 50% of our goal!”). You will receive a notification when donations and posts are made. Be sure to respond to any posts or comments and like and comment on people’s donation posts to thank them for their support.

If you need to edit anything, click “More” and then click “Edit Fundraiser.”
