Arya

05/11/2017  Animal was found floating in Bishop's Harbor in Manatee County. Animal was transported to Mote for rehab.  Physical exam reveals no major injuries, but animal has a heavy coverage of brown algae and barnacles.  Animal is very anemic.  Weight: 126.7 lbs.  Arya was put in a rehab. pool at low water level for the night.

05/12/2017  Arya is actively swimming today, but still floats when at rest.  Foraged and ate all food items offered.

05/18/2017  Animal is still in a tank at low water level because it continues to float.  Arya is foraging well for all food offered.

06/03/2017  Bouyancy issues have not yet resolved, so water level is still low.  Arya is much more active though and is eating well.

06/16/2017  Animal continues to eat well and gain weight.  She is much more active.  Buoyancy issues have resolved and tank level was increased to full depth.

06/26/2017  Animal is still anemic, so an oral iron supplement was added to treatment protocol.

08/03/2017  Arya's anemia is improving, but very slowly.  A fecal sample was positive for roundworms and protozoa, so a deworming regime was initiated.

09/07/2017 Arya was released at Lido Beach by Mote staff and interns!
