For the safety of our staff, volunteers and guests, we have temporarily suspended our regular group visitor experiences. In the meantime, we are offering private programs for single-household groups who would like to visit Mote and have their own adventure! 

When: Available daily, program times vary, pre-registration is REQUIRED
Cost: $30 for members, $35 for non-members
A minimum of 2 participants must register, with a maximum group size of 6 total single-household participants. Aquarium admission is NOT included in this program.

Important notes: 

  • Participants must be from one household unit.
  • Participants over 5 years old will be required to wear masks at all times while in Mote buildings and while interacting with Mote staff (indoors or outdoors).
  • Any equipment used will be thoroughly sanitized between programs.
  • For programs with behind-the-scenes components, guests may bring a camera, but there are areas which you may be asked not to photograph or video record.
  • ​Program elements are subject to change without notice due to animal needs, weather, or staff needs.
  • Please review our Health & Safety Policies prior to registration and visit mote.org/reopening for more information on planning a healthy visit to Mote Aquarium.
  • There are no refunds for this program unless Mote cancels.

Adventure Options

Morning Rounds

On this private tour just for your family, your educator will guide you through the morning routine at Mote Aquarium, as our biologist prep for the day. You’ll learn about your favorite sea creatures, have all of your ocean questions answered, and possibly even catch a glimpse of our animal-care team doing their morning rounds! Finally, you and your family will have an opportunity to feed animals. We have two Morning Rounds experiences to choose from. Pick which to attend based on your schedule or your favorite animals! On Sundays and Fridays, Morning Rounds is held in our main aquarium building, home to our fish and invertebrate galleries. On Wednesdays, we will explore our Marine Mammal Center, home to our resident marine mammals and reptiles.  REGISTER HERE

  • Cool, comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended.

Animal Encounters: Turtle Time

Meet Mote’s resident turtles! Pay an early morning visit to the sea turtles at the Ann & Alfred E. Goldstein Marine Mammal Research & Rehabilitation Center, where you’ll learn all about sea turtles in Florida. Then head over to our classroom and spend some quality enrichment time with our education animal ambassadors, Smiley, Booger and Pearl! REGISTER HERE

Dip Netting in the Bay 

Splash into Sarasota Bay for some fun outdoor exploration in this private field experience just for your family! Participants will use dip nets to explore the nearshore seagrass beds and learn about the plants and animals that call the Bay home. Registration coming soon!

  • This is an outdoor program
  • Guests will wade in water up to waist deep
  • Closed toe, water shoes required
  • We highly recommend sun protection (sunglasses, hat, long sleeved sun shirt, sunscreen etc.).
  • Reusable water bottle is recommended.

Bay Walk & Talk 

Tired of being stuck indoors?  Join us for our morning Bay Walk & Talks and have a private tour of our coastal baywalks with one of Mote’s educators. Visit and learn about the habitats around the Bay, do a little estuary science and enjoy a beautiful walk outside! REGISTER HERE
