Final Disposition

Animal did not respond to treatment and had to be humanely euthanized.


Magic 2 upon arrival.

6/02 Animal found struggling to dive and almost upside down in the water.  Evidence of at least one boat strike wound on carapace just above right rear flipper and minor fibropapilloma tumors.

6/04 Animal transferred to Mote. Wound debrided. Animal put in shallow water.

6/06 Turtle has distended gas in bowel and a possible torsion.  Will try enema and fluid therapy. 

6/15 Magic is still receiving fluid therapy.  Monitoring her condition closely.  Bowels still distended with gas. 

6/22 Animals is losing condition and not responding to therapy.

6/30  Radiographs and ultrasound still indicate a complete blockage.  Despite all our efforts, the animal had to be euthanized late this evening.
