Meet Mote’s New Public Relations Manager

Stephannie Kettle joined Mote Marine Laboratory's Community Relations & Communications team in August 2018 as the Public Relations Manager. She is responsible for writing press releases and coordinating media inquiries with local, regional and national outlets to continually raise awareness for Mote research, education and conservation programs. Stephannie will be the primary contact for all incoming media inquiries.

Born and raised in Orlando, Stephannie developed a passion for learning and teaching others about animals and the environment through a love for nature documentaries and shows as a kid. After studying Wildlife & Fisheries Biology at Clemson University, the passion for public outreach drove her to join the Education team at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford, FL. Stephannie later became the zoo’s Public Relations & Marketing Specialist, serving as the zoo’s spokesperson and social media manager. Stephannie moved to Mote and Sarasota in August after 2.5 years at the Central Florida Zoo.

Stephannie has a B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology from Clemson University in South Carolina. Stephannie was also a recruited student-athlete at Clemson as a member of the Women's Rowing Team. In her senior year, she served as Captain of the Rowing Team, as well as Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Over her career as a rower, Stephannie has raced at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota many times, including the early years before it became a world-class rowing venue.
