Register for Snook Symposium by Jan. 6

Join Mote researchers and other scientists in a discussion about snook management by attending a day long public discussion Jan. 13 about snook research and management in Florida, including the results of the soon-to-be released 2015 snook stock assessment, population recovery following the 2010 cold kill, and opportunities for improving snook management.

The last day to register for the Jan.13 Snook Symposium in Orlando is Jan. 6. Anyone interested in attending must register at MyFWC.com/Snook2016. The symposium will be held at the Caribe Royale, 8101 World Center Drive in Orlando., FL.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for people on the water to come together with others concerned about the current snook population and its status and work together to offer the agency feedback on how to move forward in continuing to sustain this fishery," said Dr. Kenneth Leber, Associate Vice President for Mote's Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The 2016 Snook Symposium is hosted by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and co-sponsored by Mote Marine Laboratory; Snook and Game Fish Foundation; The International Game Fish Association; Coastal Conservation Association Florida; Bonefish and Tarpon Trust; West Palm Beach Fishing Club; Florida Guides Association; Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida; and American Sportfishing Association.
