Calling all Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium members, guests, volunteers, interns and summer campers, has Mote ever inspired you? Voting is now open for SRQ Magazine’s Independent Spirit Awards and you can help Mote win by sharing your story about how Mote positively impacted your life or a family or a friend’s life through hope, inspiration and caring.
The Independent Spirit Awards recognize nonprofit innovation and the creativity of Sarasota’s performing and visual arts institutions. When you share your story about Mote, you will nominate Mote for consideration for the inaugural 2016 SRQ Annual Independent Spirit Awards in one of the six categories: Animal Welfare, Children and Families, Arts and Culture, Education, Medicine and Health, and Human Services.

Each nomination is judged by notable figures in Florida's engaged philanthropic network and winners are announced at SRQ Magazine’s annual philanthropic awards evening, The Good Gala, a platform for local nonprofit organizations to be accredited for their innovation, sustainability and integrity. SRQ Magazine’s readers' stories will come to life on stage through an evening of collaborative performances. The gala will take place on Oct. 8, 2016 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Historic Sarasota Opera House.
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is an independent, nonprofit marine laboratory and aquarium based in Sarasota, Florida and one of the many rewarding aspects of being a part of the Mote family is to hear about the public’s experiences at Mote. Since 1955, Mote has been driven by research, education and excitement as Mote scientists work to create a better environment for ourselves and our children.
