Very lethargic turtle on admission

6/20 Turtle was found floating by Capt. Brian Martel and brought into the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment.  Turtle is covered in algae and barnacles, is extremely lethargic, anemic, and dehydrated.  This is typical of "lethargic loggerhead syndrome."  Turtle has been started on fluids, antibiotics, iron, and has been placed under a misting sprayer, since it is too weak to be in water. 6/21 Turtle is somewhat stronger today and was placed in very shallow water for about two hours.  May be able to stay in water longer tomorrow. 6/25 Turtle is now continuously in water and has begun to eat well.  Gaining strength every day. 6/29 Turtle is now in deeper water and continues to eat well, although it is still weak. 7/12 Turtle has begun to gain weight and appears to be beginning to respond to the anemia. 7/20 Anemia continues to respond to treatment. 7/30 Turtle is continuing to improve and gain weight. 8/7 More improvement. 8/22 Turtle continuing to improve. 9/1 Doing very well and gaining weight. Anemia is almost gone. 9/11 Turtle is doing very well. 9/19 Continuing to do very well.  May be releasable in the next month or so. 9/28 Continuing to gain weight. 10/19 Turtle continues to do well. Not quite ready for release. 10/28 More of the same. 11/13 Turtle had to go back on antibiotics.  Doing well otherwise. 11/21 Turtle is now off all drugs again and doing very well.  May be releasable in next 1-2 weeks. 11/29 Turtle is being prepared for release next week. 12/5 Turtle has been approved for release on Friday. 12/7 Turtle was released this morning from Lido Beach.  The turtle was a little slow to enter the water, but swam off strongly once in the water.
