Turtle upon arrival at Hospital.

8/14 Turtle has prop wounds under the right front flipper. Wounds are deep and infected. Turtle is also anemic. Turtle has been started on fluids and antibiotics. 8/15 Turtle has begun to eat. 8/20 Turtle is eating fairly well and is now in somewhat deeper water. Wounds appear to be healing. 8/28 Turtle is now in deeper water and is floating. Have begun diagnostic workup regarding the flotation. Appetite is excellent and wounds are healing. 9/11 Appetite has become somewhat variable, possibly due to medication change. 9/26 Turtle is now doing much better. Appetite is better. A CT-scan performed last night at Axcess Diagnostics of Sarasota showed no free air in the coelomic cavity. Turtle will be moved to much deeper water to assess its diving capabilities. 10/6 Moved turtle to deep water tank and turtle is showing some diving capability. Will continue to evaluate. 10/24 The turtle is spending more time diving to the bottom of the tank, even resting on the bottom. Will continue to evaluate but a release is looking more likely. 11/25 Turtle is still eating fine and resting on the bottom of the tank. Releasability still undecided. 12/08 Turtle was moved for a short time out of the deep water tank and into a smaller rehab tank for treatments, but now turtle is back in deep water. Will monitor his progress closely. 12/20 Turtle will rest on the bottom of the tank, so release is possible in the future after all wounds are healed 1/5 Waiting for wounds to finish healing, then will re-evaluate releasability. 1/26 Turtle eating well and gaining weight. Wounds are still a concern but healing.2/27 Wounds are closing up well and turtle is eating well. Releasability is still being decided. 5/11Turtle has been declared to be non-releasable and will be sent to a permanent home in Puerto Rico. 7/6 Still waiting to transfer turtle to a facility in Puerto Rico, otherwise, turtle remains in good health. 9/2 At last! Billy is getting ready to travel to Puerto Rico to a new long-term home at an aquarium there. We will be driving the turtle across the state to Miami on Sept. 11 and then Billy and the new aquarium's veterinarian will board a plane home.
