This turtle stranded on Manasota Key. It is extremely emaciated, anemic, and covered in barnacles and algae. It has lost a large amount of weight and its shell is extremely soft. Very similar to the other anemic loggerheads that we have seen this summer. 8/21 Turtle is slightly weaker and less responsive. Being tube fed. 8/22 Turtle died this morning. Necropsy is scheduled for tomorrow. 8/23 Necropsy revealed severe pneumonia, liver abscesses, granulomas, and excess coelomic fluid.
