This turtle was found in Dunkin's Bayou on Sanibel Island and was taken to C.R.O.W. and then transferred to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment.  The turtle is covered in many fibropapillomas and is very thin.  It has been started on fluids and antibiotics and placed in shallow water.  It began to eat immediately. 2/1 Turtle is eating fairly well, even though it has a very high white count. 2/11 White count is finally responding to medication and turtle is gaining weight.  Planning to remove tumors in about one week. 2/22 Turtle had laser surgery yesterday to remove all of the tumors and began to eat again this morning. 2/26 Turtle is recovering well from surgery.  Appetite is excellent. 3/5 Turtle is doing very well and surgery sites are healing well. 3/12 Surgery sites continue to heal well and turtle is now gaining weight. 3/22 Still healing well and gaining weight. 3/29 Continuing to do well. 4/11 Radiographs taken today found no internal tumors.  Turtle has gained a lot of weight and only one skin tumor has returned.  Cryosurgery was performed today. 4/24 Turtle continues to do very well. 5/2 Continuing to do very well. 5/12 Turtle is doing very well and gaining weight.  There is no evidence of return of any tumors. 5/21 Still doing very well. 6/12 No change, still doing well. 6/21 Turtle continues doing well. 7/7 Turtle has had to be put on a diet as it is gaining too much weight.  Obviously doing well. 7/18 Continuing to do very well. 7/24 Still doing well. 8/9 No changes. 8/29 Still doing very well. 9/25 Continuing to do very well. 10/7 More of the same. 10/28 Looking great. 11/15 Continuing to do very well. 11/28 Looking good for a release this spring. 12/8 Still doing well. 12/14 More of the same. 1/3/07 Still doing very well. 1/8 Turtle is being tagged for release later this month. 1/12 Turtle has been approved for release next week.  1/17 Turtle was released this morning from Lighthouse Point, Sanibel Island.  Release went very well.
