This turtle was found at South Venice and brought to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for care. It is weak, but responsive, and does not appear to have lost much weight. Only a couple of barnacles on its carapace. 8/30 Blood work indicates a very high white count showing infection. It has been started on antibiotics. 9/1 Turtle is refusing to eat but is swimming at this time. 9/9 Behaviorally, no change with this turtle. White count has come down some. 9/21 Still not eating on its own, but white count is improved. 10/9 Turtle has finally started eating on its own. 11/4 Turtle is eating well and white count is normal. 11/18 Turtle is gaining weight and doing fairly well. Liver enzymes are slightly elevated. 12/9 Continued slow improvement. 12/15 Liver enzymes are almost back to normal. Doing very well. 12/29 Turtle has been approved for release in the near future. 1/5/05 Turtle was released this morning near South Venice Beach, where it had originally stranded.
