1/16 Turtle was part of the statewide cold stranding of sea turtles and was brought to Mote from Port Manatee. 1/18 Hypo is a green sea turtle that also has papillomas (tumors). Turtle's condition is tenuous. 1/22 Turtle was released from the east coast. Because of the large number of turtles coming in for treatment, the ones that appear to be doing the best are being released as soon as possible.
Note: More than 3,000 sea turtles statewide have been affected by record-low January water temperatures. State and federal agencies, along with nonprofit organizations like Mote are responding to this mass stranding by taking in sick sea turtles.
