Turtle on arrival.

9/4 Turtle was found floating in a canal near Tierra Verde by Scott Haskel and Jim Pollard.  They rescued the turtle and brought it to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital.  Turtle is very lethargic, but responsive, and may be affected by red tide toxicosis.  Treatment has been initiated. 9/6 Turtle is somewhat stronger and has been placed in shallow water.  Is able to swim some.  9/8 Turtle began eating for the first time this morning.  Is now in deeper water and is doing very well. 9/9 Blood results today confirm that this turtle IS affected by red tide toxicosis.  However, turtle continues to do well. 9/11 Turtle has become very active and is in much deeper water and doing well.  Appetite is great. 9/13 Turtle continues to do amazingly well. 9/22 Turtle is gaining weight and doing well.  Turtle was affected by blood flukes in addition to red tide, but is beginning to respond to that treatment. 9/25 Now in even deeper water and still doing very well. 10/1 Turtle is now acting normal and may be released in the near future. 10/7 Still doing very well. 10/18 Continuing to do very well. 10/28 Doing very well and should be releasable in the next few weeks. 11/9 Turtle has been approved for release and has been fitted with a satellite-liinked transmitter for tracking.  Plan is to release this one and Bruno tomorrow morning. 11/10 Turtle was released this morning from St. Petersburg Beach (Sirata Beach Resort).  Thanks to 1800endoscope.com for providing funds for the transmitter and tracking. Click here to view sea turtle tracking updates.
