Photo of turtle on admission to Hospital

10/28 Turtle was found on beach on Marco Island.  Turtle was very disoriented and seemed to have difficulty breathing.  Turtle has symptoms of red tide toxicosis and has been started on treatment.  It has been placed in shallow water and is breathing well. 10/30 Turtle has been placed in deeper water and is swimming well.  Turtle started eating a small amount this morning.  Symptoms seem to be subsiding, but turtle has a high white count and has been started on antibiotics. 11/1 Symptoms seem much better, but still not eating well. 11/3 Turtle is in deeper water and is swimming well and is beginning to eat better. 11/6 Turtle is continuing to improve. 11/15 Turtle is now gaining weight and doing very well. 11/28 Continuing to do very well.  May be releasable in the next month or so. 12/8 Turtle is temporarily back on antibiotics, but doing well. 12/14 Turtle is off antibiotics again and doing well.  Now being monitored to see if white count goes up again. 1/3/07 White count seems stable, so may be able to release before the end of the month. 1/8 Turtle is being tagged for release soon. 1/12 Turtle has been approved for release next week. 1/15 Satellite tag was attached this morning for release later this week.  See photo below. 1/17 Turtle was released this afternoon from Vanderbilt Beach north of Naples.  Release went very well. 1/20 No transmission have been received by the turtle's transmitter, so it has been removed from www.seaturtle.org until a signal is received.  This is likely due to transmitter problems and NOT problems with the turtle.

Turtle swimming with satellite transmitter tag attached.
