4/2 The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a sick subadult loggerhead sea turtle from San Carlos Bay Monday. Coast Guard members noticed the sea turtle flailing about in the channel, unable to dive.  It took two men to lift the 50 pound turtle onto a boat. Rescuers from Turtle Time Inc. and the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve brought the turtle to Mote for treatment and rehabilitation. The loggerhead was nicknamed Mati. Radiographs show that the animal's bowels are distended with what looks like food items.

4/4  Mati has started eating small amounts of food today.  Will monitor closely until we see that Mati's bowels are  functional.

4/10  Mati is eating well and food items are moving through. Floating is still an issue.

4/16  Animal continues to repond to treatment and some free air was removed this morning, which we hope will help her be able to dive.

5/9 Mati sitting on bottom this morning.

6/1 Eating extremely well.

6/17 Animal is being considered for release in the next few weeks.

7/2 Released!
