01/27/2018 Sea turtle was found upside down by a beachgoer on Paradise Beach in Melbourne Beach, Brevard County. Animal was transported to Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center for triage. Animal is in good body conditon with no obvius injuries, but is covered in baranacles and algae on the carapace and plastron. Was given subcutaneous fluids with Dextrose, an antibiotic injection, and a vitamin B injection.
02/12/2018 "Packer" was transferred by FWC to Mote for continued rehabilitation and to make space at Brevard Zoo's Sea Turtle Healing Center for new patients.
02/13/2018 Packer foraged all food offered today.
02/27/2018 Turtle is very active and continues to eat well. Blood work is overall trending well.
03/13/2018 Packer was medically cleared for release! Mote staff transferred Packer and Sprout to FWC who released them near New Smyrna Beach on the east coast.
