Photo of turtle on arrival.

10/22 Turtle was found floating yesterday off Marco Island and was brought to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment.  Turtle is missing much of its carapace, probably from a boat strike several years ago, but it is completely healed.  Turtle has symptoms of red tide toxicosis and is being treated accordingly.  Turtle has been placed in shallow water and is showing some interest in food already. 10/23 Turtle is somewhat stronger today and has been placed in somewhat deeper water. 10/28 Turtle is in much deeper water and is eating very well.  Blood results yesterday confirmed red tide toxicosis. 10/30 Turtle continues to improve daily.  Appetite is good. 11/3 Turtle is continuing to do very well. 11/9 Turtle is now eating very well and gaining weight. 11/15 Turtle is still on antibiotics, but is doing very well. 11/28 Turtle has been off antibiotics for almost two weeks and continues to do very well.  Have applied for permission to release the turtle soon. 12/1 Turtle was released this morning from Vanderbilt Beach, north of Naples, Florida.  Release went very well.
