Released October 15, 2004 at Lido Beach
This turtle was found floating inside New Pass, Sarasota and was brought directly to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital. Although it is not severely anemic, it has all of the other symptoms of the anemic loggerheads that have been coming in for the last 6 weeks. About 6 liters of air was aspirated from its coelomic cavity. 5/31 Turtle is eating and is alert. It has been started on antibiotics. 6/5 Turtle continues to improve and is gaining weight. 6/13 Continued improvement. 6/19 More improvement. 7/14 Continuing to improve slowly. 7/21 More of the same. 8/5 Anemia is almost resolved and turtle is doing very well. May be ready for release by the end of the month. 8/30 Turtle's liver enzymes are going up, so release has been delayed. Still doing well otherwise. 9/1 No change. 9/9 Very little change, but no worsening, at least. 9/21 Slight improvement. Still eating well. 10/9 Liver enzymes are back to normal. May be ready for release soon. 10/15 Turtle was released this morning from Lido Beach.
