6/14 Turtle was caught by a shark fisherman and was brought by Clearwater Marine Aquarium to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for rehabilitation.  A very large hook was caught in the esophagus, so the turtle was sedated and the hook was removed.  Turtle shows some signs of illness, such as barnacles in the mouth, and appears to be anemic.  Have begun treatment with antibiotics. 6/20 Turtle is doing well and finally started eating on its own today. 6/26 Turtle is now eating very well. 7/1 Continuing to eat well and is now gaining weight. 7/26 Turtle is doing very well.  May be releasable in the next month or so. 7/29 Endoscopy this morning revealed excellent healing of hook wound in the esophgagus. 8/5 Turtle has been tagged in preparation for possible release next week. 8/7 Turtle has been approved for release next week. 8/12 Turtle was successfully released this morning from Lido Beach, Sarasota.  Release went very well.
