Turtle on admission.

12/30 Turtle was caught on rod and reel by local fishermen and brought to Mote by Dr. Tony Tucker.  Turtle has minor wound in mouth, but radiographs revealed fluid in the lungs, so turtle has been started on antibiotics.  Turtle is doing very well. 1/4 Turtle continues to do well and breathing is improved.  Still not eating, however. 1/7 Still doing well but not eating. 1/14 Turtle finally started eating today and has a huge appetite.  Doing well behaviorally. 1/15 Eating most of what is being offered to it.  Active otherwise. 1/23 Appetite has become variable, but gaining some weight.  Mouth lesion is healing. 1/30 Appetite is now excellent.  May be able to release turtle in the near future. 2/4 Continuing to do very well. 2/13 Applied flipper and PIT tags on Monday and satellite-linked transmitter yesterday.  Turtle is doing very well with the transmitter.  Will be released later this week. 2/15 Turtle was released this morning into Sarasota Bay in Manatee County.  Turtle has a satellite transmitter and can be tracked at www.seaturtle.org or by clicking here.
