5/3 This turtle was found floating in Venice and was brought to Mote's Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital. It appears to have all the same symptomotology as Sherlock, Boca, and Super II. Started it on fluids. 5/5 Turtle is eating after we removed 6.3 liters of air from its coelomic cavity. Have started it on antibiotics and EPO for anemia. Doing well, so far. 5/8 Turtle is improving daily. Appetite is good and anemia is beginning to improve. 5/14 Turtle is gaining weight and continuing to improve. 5/19 Anemia is not improving as quickly as we would like. Continuing treatment. 5/26 Anemia has improved somewhat and turtle continues to eat well and gain weight. 6/5 Turtle continues to improve. 6/13 Continued slow improvement. 6/19 Continuing to improve. 7/14 Continuing to improve slowly. 7/21 More of the same. 8/5 Turtle is doing well and anemia is almost gone. Turtle may be ready for release by the end of the month. 8/19 Continuing to do well. Investigating release possibilities. 8/30 Continued improvement. 9/9 Turtle continues to do very well. 9/21 We have tagged the turtle and have applied for release, possibly by the end of this week. 9/24 Turtle was released this morning north of the Venice Jetty.
