Inspiring and educating people worldwide

Mote‘s groundbreaking research sent ripples through national and international news media, while educating viewers of all ages through family-friendly science programming. This year, Mote was mentioned more than 6,000 times in media stories including pieces from National Geographic, National Public Radio, ABC’s Good Morning America and more. Highlights:

  • Mote's coral reef restoration and research efforts were featured on the nationally syndicated show Wildlife Nation, featuring host Jeff Corwin, presented by Defenders of Wildlife.

  • Mote scientists Dr. Hanna R. Koch, Dr. Erinn Muller, and President & CEO Dr. Michael P. Crosby shared our incredible science-based coral restoration efforts that enabled restored corals to spawn on the reef, through their feature article in The Scientist, a magazine read by leading researchers in the life sciences. 

  • Mote’s Dr. Kevan Main spoke with Jeff Glor from the national program CBS This Morning to discuss Mote's aquaculture research and the future of the industry.

  • Mote’s coral reef research and restoration efforts in the Florida Keys were highlighted in a feature story within National Geographic magazine’s The Ocean Issue

  • To accompany the launch of the National Geographic issue, Mote President & CEO Dr. Michael P. Crosby appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America to discuss coral bleaching and Mote’s coral restoration methods.

  • Mote scientists were interviewed for a National Public Radio story on Mission: Iconic Reefs, the federally led coral reef restoration effort in which Mote is a core partner.

  • Our effort to create the new Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA) was featured on Blooloop.com, the world’s most read news source for visitor attractions professionals. 

  • Mote research and education were also highlighted in AZA Connect, the magazine of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. 

  • Mote Aquarium was highlighted in National Geographic’s new book, “1,000 Perfect Weekends”!
