A lifelong Sarasota resident, Esther joined the Phytoplankton Ecology team as a technician after completing an internship with the department during her undergraduate education. Her research has taken her from the limnetic zone of lakes in the greater Boston area, where she studied the physiology and ecology of the rotifer genus Keratella, to the Gulf of Alaska, where she collected population data on bycatch and fishery health from aboard a fleet of fishing vessels.
