Chipi was released off Casey Key!
10/28/2019 Chipi was found floating and swimming in circles in Boca Grande Pass of Charlotte County, FL. Chipi was named after the dog of the man who called in for a rescue. Chipi was brought to Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium's Sea Turtle Hospital to be rehabilitated. During the water test Chipi was showing signs of lethargy and neurologic issues so the turtle was left out of water over night. Chipi's admission weight is 53.7kg (118lbs).
10/29/2019 Chipi was placed in low water this morning and resumed somewhat normal sea turtle behavior. Chipi was offered food but had no interest.
11/2/2019 Chipi is starting to be more interested in eating, mainly eating shrimp and squid right now.
11/25/2019 Chipi's tank water is now at its full level. Chipi has been eating, defecating, and cognitively behaving normal but we need an improvement on blood work and gain weight from the diet increases.
12/28/2019 Chipi has been put on an oral antibiotic and will recieve an injectable dewormer due to GI issues.
02/20/2020 Chipi is still doing well. Still on an oral antibiotic but is eating well and gaining weight.
03/23/2020 Chipi had final blood work taken and was cleared for release.
03/25/2020 Chipi was released off of Casey Key!
