02/27/2022  Turtle was found entangled in monofilament fishing line and attached to a piling under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.  The fishermen who found it removed the line from around the turtle's neck.  There was more of the line tightly wrapped around the front right flipper.  The turtle was transported to Mote for a health assessment and possible rehabilitation.  Upon admit, the remaining monofilament was removed and a blood sample was taken.  Blood values were unremarkable.  There are some constriction marks on the flipper due to the entanglement.  Hawkeye was put in a shalllow rehab. tank for the night.

02/28/2022  Hawkeye ate some mashed shrimp when offered.

03/05/2022  Swelling on the right front flipper secondary to entanglement has resolved.  Hawkeye is swimming normally and is eating all capelin and shrimp offered.

03/09/2022  Hawkeye was released by Mote staff and interns off Anna Maria Island!
